Whether it is Valentines Day or not, February is all about the Love! This week, I picked a few items to help celebrate “Love is in the Air” throughout the month.
First the Quests
Some of the saddest most poignant love stories exist among the Night Elves. Not because they are more beloved by Blizzard or anything, but because the lore tries to drive home the sheer tragedy this race has endured since losing the Well of Eternity. These people were once immortal but now are relegated to facing death—losing themselves and loved ones to death with no hope for an afterlife.
QUEST 1 - FOR LOVE ETERNAL
This quest can be obtained right off the bridge in Aubderdine, Darkshore. Cerellean Whiteclaw relates the events of the town, Amath’Aran which was destroyed during the battle over the Well of Eternity. His wife, Anaya, was among the people who had been in the city during its fall. He is afraid that she had become stuck, a ghost which haunts the ruins because she did not realize what had happened to her. He doesn’t have the heart to put her to rest and asks you to do it.
After you bring back her pendant proving you have done as he asked, there is follow-up segment where her ghost comes to visit him one last time. It is a scene where the two lovers exchange words of their devotion for each other despite their separation. Whiteclaw cries in agony when she finally fades away into oblivion.
This is truly one of the more heart-wrenching quests.

QUEST 2 - OF LOVE AND FAMILY
Tirion Fordring truly loved his family and was devoted to his son. This NPC has an interesting quest series which involves his redemption and the fate his beloved son, Taelen. Tirion was found guilty of treason and banished from the Alliance and has stayed in this humble location in order to watch over his son. Something sinister has happened and he needs your help. What has happened to his son is something you will need to discover on your own, if you do the quest.
This adventure requires three collection quests prior, but the entire series is worth the story. Tirion Fordring can be found at an encampment along the river due north from the bridge between western and eastern Plaguelands, Azeroth.

The quest series starts with Mordenai in Netherwing fields, Shadowmoon who asks for your help in feeding Mature Netherwing drakes in a quest called “Kindness.” The drake brood’s patron flies over head. “Perhaps the kindness that you showed his children has moved his heart…” Will you be able to free Karynaku and some of her brood from their enslavement as mounts? RPing Tips
Picking a Name
Warcraft specifies that on a RP server, the name of your character needs to fit the medieval/fantasy WoW universe. For Example, your gnome can be called Gearwicket (alluding their engineering traits) but not Dell Packard or Verizonette. Also, on a RP server, they recommend to void names like IROXXOR, IKNFLY, or CUDEAD.
The name generator within the game does a pretty good job of giving names if you are unable to come up your own. Here are a few thoughts about naming your character:
- Draenei tend to use twin vowels in their names, such as two a’s or two I’s right in a row. When picking a name from the generator, look for a name that has twin vowels.
- Blood elf surnames tend to involve the sun, such as Suncatcher or Sunstrider. First names often use “th’s” within the name, such as Lenthan, Jesthenis, and Arathel.
- Nightelf and Tauren mostly use compound surnames such as Windwhisper, Darkfeather, or Moonshade. Nightelf first names tend to sound “elfish” such as Elanaria, Fandral, or Erion while Tauren use simple syllables (one consonant following by one vowel) such as Bashana, Ahanu, Pala.
- Humans and Forsaken often use regular names such as Connor or Emma as well as regular last names such as McClure or Farnsley. Also note that humans will sometimes use a name that is a title such as John of the Light or Hank the Hammer.
- Dwarves tend to have surnames that are either their profession or their physical description, such as Battlehammer, Longbeard, Twinbraid, or Thundertoe.
- Gnomes tend to have some engineering reference in their names such Toggleswitch, Cogsworth, or Spindlemire.
- Trolls tend to have south island names such as Tai’jin, Jen’Shan, and Un’Thuwa.
- Orc names tend to be guttural in sound, ending in a hard consonant such as Kaltunk, Margaz, and Gornek. Both Trolls and Orcs tend to only have a single name, while other races have a first and lastname.
